Green Remodeling
Hollingsworth Home Improvement is committed to offering our customers a variety of sustainable & energy efficient choices when it comes to materials for their homes.
We’ve done extensive research on different products and materials and stand behind our choices of sustainable and/or energy efficient products listed below. It can be hard to balance the desire for aesthetics and durability with the desire to make sustainable and energy efficient choices. Luckily, we have found products that offer both.
Green Siding Options
- James Hardie Fiber Cement Siding - James Hardie siding is manufactured from low toxicity products: wood pulp, cement, sand and water (recycled up to 4 times). It is also manufactured using raw materials located within close proximity of their manufacturing plants. You can rely on their manufacturing plant in Peru, Illinois to support our local economy and reduce the transportation cost/effects to get materials to your job site. The durability of James Hardie is unsurpassed, and this durability means less material used over the lifetime of your home.
- LP® Smartside® Composite Siding – LP® Smartside® Composite siding is manufactured using the entire log, which is harvested in accordance with the Sustainable Forestry Initiative. They use wood from small, fast-growing trees, which means less waste and quicker resource regrowth. Their processes use no urea-formaldehyde with low-emitting safe resins as a binder. The zinc-borate in their SmartGuard® manufacturing process is a naturally-occurring material. LP® Smartiside® also reduces waste on the job site when compared with wood siding. There are no knots or voids, which means each piece of siding is usable – unlike wood where many pieces end up discarded. And the durability of the product means less breakage and a longer lifespan.
